Problems with Wi-Fi connection
Most of the error messages which concern the Wi-Fi connection are usually incorrect password, unavailable network etc. In case you find the following situations, you can handle them with these troubleshooting techniques and troubleshoot Roku 3 issues.
Wi-Fi Out of Range
- If the Roku player is facing connectivity issues, one of the best ideas would be, is to check, if the Wi-Fi signal is within the router’s range.
- It is preferable to keep the device close to router to remove any obstructions.
- Also, take note to keep the device away from enclosed areas for better signal management.
- Directly connecting the Roku 3 to router via Ethernet cable would also establish a great connection.
- Check if you have provided a valid Roku com link account
- Sometimes both the Router and the Roku 3 player will have to be rebooted. Wait for few seconds before plugging them back.
Wrong IP Address
- Check your IP settings when you face connectivity issues. If the method is set to manual, select the automatic option in the settings.
Low video Quality
- If the Roku 3 is connected to High-Speed Internet but faces poor streaming with poor video quality, the following causes and the ways to troubleshoot them should be identified.
- It is preferable to keep the Roku 3 player close to the router, for avoiding signal disturbance. After placing it in the favorable position, if you still get disturbances, try updating your router firmware.
Speed of Broadband Connection
- Remove unwanted devices that use the same network connected to the Roku 3 player, to increase the speed of your broadband connection.
Remote Control Not Responding
- If your Roku 3 device is not responding to the remote, the following causes and the ways to troubleshoot it should be identified.
- Check for drained batteries and replace the two AA batteries. Once the remote is working again, the remote pairing dialog will automatically appear on the screen.
- Check for proper pairing of the remote to the Roku device. Try pairing the remote to the device again, until the LED light flashes and the remote pairing dialog appears on the screen.
Remote and Roku to be Restarted
- For pairing purposes, restart both the remote and Roku 3 device. A 5-second’s wait is recommended till the device is powered back on. Once the Roku loading screen comes on, batteries can be reinstalled in the remote. Once the player comes to life, check to see if you’re remote is working.
Remote Needs to be Cleared
- Sometimes the remote might need to be cleared and re-paired. Follow the steps as stated above, for rebooting, clearing and pairing of the device.
- If your application crashes or freezes randomly while using it, the following causes and the ways to troubleshoot it should be identified.
- Close the application that’s causing the trouble and open another app. Check to see if the problem recurs. If the problem persists for all apps, rebooting Roku device will help.
- Always ensure your Roku device software is updated. Out of date software might crash the running apps.

Firewall Blocking the Connection with the Roku 3 Update Server
- Disable the firewall, if your Roku 3 is not updating.
TV Not Communicating with Roku 3 Update Server
- If the TV does not connect with the Roku Update Server, connect to the secret screen and update from there. To use the secret screen, press Home button in Remote five times, Fast Forward three times, and Rewind two times. And then update the Software.
